Disseminating Research: Moving From Conferences To Virtual @ MIT CISR

FOCUS AREA:

In active consultation with Director, Associate Director, Professors, and administrative personnel, I helped create a strategic plan including design and implementation, to disseminate research, previously distributed during conferences, to a virtual format. We had weekly virtual meetings to plan implementation, and ongoing design.

The project also included meeting with research professors to understand their need. Helped design learning experiences for participants, and ways to collect new data during the process for future research projects.

This consulting project was to solve a very specific problem that occurred unexpectedly. Can' t provide
details of teh engagement due to an NDA.

TESTIMONIAL:

“Lav consulted with MIT CISR to help our team design and deliver online events. She is a real professional: patient, intuitive and execution-oriented.  I was very impressed by her emotional intelligence and ability to build consensus.” – Leslie Owens, Executive Director, MIT CISR

Managing Remote Teams: Managers of Large Retail Stores Within An Expanded Territory @ Apple, Inc

FOCUS AREA:

Apple was looking for a leadership development methodology to help its ASC managers in charge of large retail stores manage their remote teams well, which was part of the Worldwide Consumer Sales division. I had to design a comprehensive and practical leadership development program.

This systematic approach needed to include principles of Instructional design, learning objectives, Kirkpatrick's evaluation, and practical lists and steps that made it easier for the leaders to use it day to day.

Gallup had just released their Employee Engagement Trends report (2016), breaking EE into three factors. I further analyzed and created strategies for each factor., breaking down the Employee Engagement into Leadership, Meaningful Work, and Relationship with Coworkers.

PROGRAM:

“For Leadership I used I used Bersin & Associates Maturity Model as the foundational basis for the program, layered with Blake & Mouton's Managerial Grid Model for Retail.

For Meaningful work I used Engage and Mobilize Employees by Andre Neitlich.

For Relationship with coworkers I used supportive worksheets to map engagement plan with each employee.

This program also included 1-1 coaching calls for 20days, 40 days and 60 days. And a before and after survey from the team to measure shift in subjective experiences.

Needs-Analysis To Understand Technology Needs in Classrooms @ NCSU

FOCUS AREA:

North Carolina State University's provost (2006) asked for a needs-analysis to be done for the university. I was the Doctoral student on the task force., alongside other professors. The task was to determine the utility and specific tech that was needed in every classroom to enhance digital learning,. In 2006, it was ahead of its time, incorporating digital tools for professors .

We did a quantitative survey and qualitative interviews . Every professor wanted all the tech in their classroom, so the analysis was also determining what tech specifically went to which classroom. The data was analyzed using SPSS, cross tabulated with the interview data.

The report was submitted to the Provost, and we wrote two research papers in the process.
